Basic Obedience: Dogs 5 months and older. No dog is too old! No Prerequisite
Getting started on the right paw!
We believe that in order to achieve the ultimate
relationship you must have good communication and leadership skills with your dog. We will help you and the dog
understand each other so you can be successful in everything you do! This class will cover:
- The essential skills of leadership – How to properly communicate with your dog in the way he/she understands. Learn how to be a fair and
confident leader, building a bonding relationship by setting your dog up for success.
- Attention (focus)
– Teaching your dog pay attention to you even in distracting
environments
- Leash manners –
Keep a loose leash at all times – no pulling, lunging,
etc.
- Control –
Eliminate unwanted behaviors such as dashing
out of the door, mouthing, barking, jumping, etc.
- Basic Commands – sit, stay, down,
stand, leave it, heel, Come on Command
This class will show you many fun ways to train your dog. We believe class should be fun for both the dogs and the handlers!
Our goal at Elk River K9 is to help you get the best results possible from our classes. Remember…. Training your dog is a small investment of time
that ensures large payouts and long term effects. You owe it to your dog to be the best trainer possible!
What you will need to bring to class: -
An upbeat attitude - the more fun you are for your dog the more
successful you
will be in training your dog. - Yummy treats for your dog (please do not
feed your dog before class) - If you are currently
using a training collar bring it with you (exception: shock collars
are NOT allowed in class) - A regular leash made of Nylon or Leather (NO retractable leashes) -
potty bags to clean up after your dog - Your dogs favorite toy, no balls unless they have a string attatched.
You are welcome to
use the collar of your choice. If you do not know what collar you should be using, upon request, we will assist
you in selecting one that you are comfortable with and that best
fits you and your dog.
Pre-registration
is required for all classes. You will attend class one night a week for 8 consecutive weeks. Dates and times listed are the first night class starts. Course Fee: $120.00/ 8 week class
